Not all virtual worlds are based on fictitious designs — This one replicates Mars

Simulation games are a big business, offering a real-world form of escapism. Now, the Metaverse is taking players even further: to the surface of Mars. The arrival of the PC was transformative for gaming — avid players could suddenly experience what it’s like to be a pilot, a train driver or even a goat through simulation. As cutting-edge as this new genre was, it also had its limitations. Powerful graphics cards were needed to ensure the game ran smoothly, and small screens meant players would always be aware they were in the real world . The advent of virtual reality headsets changed all that. Thanks to this technology, gamers can have a 360-degree view of sitting in a cockpit or piloting a high-speed train from London to Paris. Virtual world s in the Metaverse can also unlock hyper-realistic, immersive experiences beyond anything players have seen before. The market for simulation games continues to grow. Meanwhile, figures from Statista suggest total market volume in this genre i...

NFT Steez and Victor Solomon discuss building in Web3 and the metaverse

This week NFT Steez spoke to award-winning artist Victor Solomon about basketball, the metaverse, Web3 and his unique NFT collection. NFT Steez hosts Alyssa Expósito and Ray Salmond chatted with Victor Solomon to discuss his journey in bridging his in-real-life artwork with NFTs and how he cultivates the community and culture that surrounds his art.  Solomon's work centers around basketball — not just the object, but the sport itself. For Solomon, the inspiration for his work comes from wanting to play hockey in his early childhood. At the time, this was a sport that was not accessible for him, but it led to his eventual discovery of basketball, which he found to be more accommodating.  Solomon said: "Basketball was such an inspirational platform for me since there's no barrier to entry."  According to Solomon, the open nature of basketball is an "incredible parallel for everything that's happening in Web3," and throughout the episode, he explained th...

From unprecedented crowdfunding mechanisms to play-to-earn (P2E) and move-to-earn (M2E) models, decentralized technology is empowering communities like never before. One of the next big things in today’s tech revolution is the so-called Map2Earn — an emerging and fast-growing trend revolving around an economic model that incentivizes people to scan physical locations and buildings for 3D mapping. While this is not an independent market yet, Map2Earn may play an essential role in augmented reality and the Metaverse. Both are multibillion-dollar markets and are expected to expand rapidly in the following years. Some analysts expect the Metaverse market to exceed the $1 trillion mark by 2030. The AR and virtual reality market may grow to a...
